MERIDIAN, ID – In celebration of Public Works Week, the City of Meridian Public Works Department invites the community to go behind the scenes and see where the water in their taps comes from, what happens to the water they flush, and how we deliver these essential services to their homes.
Details:
- When: Thursday, June 4, from 4 pm – 7 pm
- Where: Meridian City Hall
Public Works Week Expo highlights the Public Works professionals who show up for the community every day. Attendees will explore exhibits and learn more about City services, including water, wastewater, engineering, trash, and recycling. It’s an opportunity for residents of all ages to connect with City staff and partner agencies in an all-access pass to what Public Works professionals do to keep this community's water and wastewater safe.
“Though you don’t often see Public Works staff in action, as a lot of what we do is underground, service is at the forefront of our minds,” said Public Works Director Laurelei Bakken. “Every year, we look forward to connecting with the community at Expo and talking about the vital work we do here in Meridian.”
The 2026 Public Works Week theme is "Rooted in Service, Powered by Community." It captures the deep roots of Meridian’s Public Works Department and what drives Meridian to be the West's premier community in which to live, work, and raise a family.
Public Works Week Expo is a family-friendly event with demonstrations, interactive displays, and large equipment exhibits. It's fun for kids (and adults!) of all ages.
