The City leads the design, construction, and operations functions for most streetlights in Meridian. However, decorative lights in subdivisions are the responsibility of homeowners' associations, and lights in private parking lots are maintained by the property owner or the business.

City of Meridian Standard Notes: Street Lighting
- All street light construction shall be done in accordance with the current version of the ISPWC, the
Meridian Supplemental Specifications to the ISPWC, and the National Electric Code. - An electrical permit for street lighting shall be obtained prior to starting work. Use the online Citizen Portal to open a permit and request inspections.
- Installation will require inspections for the concrete base reinforcing, bedding, backfill, and for the pole
and associated wiring. - Street light bases shall be located 10’ min. from trees, 5’ min. from fire hydrants, and 2’ min. from water
meters. - Keep accurate notes of conduit and junction box locations. Attach a redlined as built drawing of this plan
sheet to the street lighting electrical permit, or submit a hard copy to the Meridian Public Works
Department prior to requesting final inspection. - Contact the City Transportation and Utility Coordinator 208-898-5500 for questions regarding Utility
Conflicts, or to access locked meter pedestals.
