Recycling

The City of Meridian partners with Republic Services to provide curbside commingle recycling (all material in one cart) service every other week to all single-family households and multifamily buildings with 4 or fewer units. For multifamily buildings with more than 4 units, check with the building owner or property manager for onsite recycling opportunities. Republic Services also provides residents with a recycling drop-off center at the Meridian Transfer Station (2130 W Franklin Rd. Meridian) to use for free.

Plastic Recycling Guidelines

  • Empty, rinse, and replace caps/lids.
  • Accepted plastics:
    • #1 and # 2 bottles and jugs, such as lightweight water bottles (aka, squishy water bottles).
    • #5 tubs and containers such as yogurt, sour cream, and butter tubs.
  • Plastics not allowed in recycling carts:
    • #3, #4, #6, or #7 plastics
    • Small plastics, such as straws or utensils
    • Plastic bags or films, such as grocery bags, trash bags, shrink wrap, or bubble wrap
    • Clamshells
    • Plastic cups

Cart Guidelines

  • Set carts out by 6:00 a.m., remove from the street within 24 hours.
  • Place wheeled cart against the curb or along the alley with the handle pointing towards your residence; do not block the sidewalk or bike lane with carts.
  • Keep carts at least three feet away from other carts, mailboxes, fire hydrants, low-hanging trees or shrubs, parked cars, or utility poles so trucks can easily access the cart.
  • Do not place hazardous waste, for example, lithium batteries, in your trash or recycling cart. See the Household Hazardous Waste webpage.
